DIY – Make Your Home Smell Amazing
Artificial fragrances could be irritating, especially those chemical-laden plug-in air fresheners. Essential oils have always been a favorite for most people, for a long time. Many of the finest reed diffusers, on the other hand, are quite pricy. Why pay so much when many of these raw materials are easy to get? Here’s how to make a reed diffuser at home for a dose of natural aromatherapy. Today, Dubai Housekeeping will share a simple & easy method to make your home smell amazing.
What you’ll need:
Glass or ceramic bottle with a narrow opening at the top. A narrow neck will slow down evaporation
Essential oils to your liking
½ cup Sweet almond oil as based oil
5-8 Reed or bamboo skewers
Let’s Get to It
Pour the base oil into the bottle you have chosen.
Add 40-50 drops of your favorite essential oil to the bottle. Here is a list of recommendations for seasons:
Spring Season – Citrus, Cedarwood, Lavender, Geranium & Jasmine
Summer Season – Lavender, Magnolia, Bergamot & Lemon
Fall Season – Juniper Berry, Cedarwood, Balsam, Cardamom & Cinnamon
Winter Season – Douglas Fir, Cedarwood, Juniper Berry & Patchouli
Now place one end of the reeds or skewers into this solution, allowing it to saturate. Flip the reeds after 1 hour & enjoy the fruits of your efforts.
Flip the reeds again in 1 week and replace the oil in 1 month.
Things to keep in mind:
The smaller the neck of the bottle. The slower the liquid will evaporate. Sweet almond oil is thin hence it can travel up the reeds easily.
Experiment with several essential oil & blends until you find one or two that you truly enjoy. You can then increase your batch sizes and store them in sealed containers. to save preparation time.
If you have pets, keep in mind that essential oils might be harmful to them. Before you create a reed diffuser, do some research to see if the oil you want to use is harmful to the pet you have.
